iPhone 4 (unrecognized device?)

Hi, Smart people.

If some body can help me with this I'll apreciate it a lot.

I did connect my iPhone 4 over the usb but it said on screen "unrecognized device"...

The sale person told me that I need to download the $9.99 APP from the apple store. Well search about but it have too many futures that I don't need; I juusstt want to litsen to my music over the USB! "I told to the sale person"...

Tomorrow the smart center here in PR going to give me a free $10.00 iTunes gift card.

for your help!

The few connector/charger units I looked at Griffin Technology: Your Leader in Essentials for iPod, iPhone, and iPad do plug in the "cigarette lighter power outlet", connect to the iPhone via a USB cable but carry the audio signal to the glovebox via a mini-jack cable that connects the charger unit directly to the glovebox.
The extra advantage of this system — aside from the fact that there is only one cable connected to the iPhone — is that the audio level that enters the glovebox mini-jack is much higher than if it's connected directly to the iPhone "earphone plug" itself.
I've opted for the cheap solution: a mini-jack for the audio, and a separate charger that I use on long trips only.
Either you shop around for a specific connector/charger, or you get the iTunes app. The latter may very well be cheaper...

My son uses the mini jack to play his Ipod and I use it to play internet radio from blackberry ( some times you just need to hear that game)

Probably, in which case I think his car has both a USB port and a mini-jack input side by side in his glovebox.

As seen on John's pic:
