iPod/iPhone issues with Eclipse AVN62D

I'm having difficulty getting either an iPhone(2G) or an iPod Classic (4G?) to pair correctly with the dealer(San Jose) installed Eclipse AVN62D stereo. I've tried an adapter that Apple sells that was supposed to fix compatibility issues with newer iPods, but I still can't get full functionality.

Although the eclipse does see both units, I'm having the following issues...

iPhone(2G)
Music plays, but unable to scroll past 1st page of songs on the eclipse screen. (i.e scrolling arrows dimmed out) I am able to forward-arrow to next song, but that's very tedious.

iPod Classic(4G?)
Able to scroll and seem to have control of the iPod--except for one minor detail: the music never starts. The timer always indicates 0' 0". I can select songs and I can hear the iPod's drive seek and find the item, but they never play.

Does anyone have this unit paired to an iPod? If so, what generation is your iPod?

(I don't think I'd ever consider another Eclipse unit)

Thanks.

It turns out that it's a feature--not a bug. The Eclipse will disable scrolling of any iPod related screens whenever the parking break is off. This is a safety feature, and I can see some justification for it as scrolling through the screens is a distracting process.

It is possible to pull the parking break up one notch with no noticeable effect on the car and temporarily allow for scrolling. The car will remind you with gentle alarm to release the brake. Still, now that I understand what's going on, it's a limitation I can live with.

BTW, I've tried several iPods with varying amounts of luck. The new 5th(?)generation iPod Nano seems to work as it should--at least with the music functions.

(And, the Eclipse unit isn't so bad, after all.)

I installed an Eclipse unit into my smart myself. I did not attach the brake sensing wire to the brake because I wanted full functionality at all times. without attaching the wire to anything, the unit will not work at all. I experimented, and touched the wire to the frame of the unit, and it worked just fine. Apparently there is enough stray voltage to trick the wire into thinking that the parking brake is engaged.
