IPOD thru Auxjack with no Radio

Has anyone tried to see off their AUX jack would allow an IPOD to play through the speakers if there was no radio installed?

Can't imagine that would work since the other end of the aux cable plugs into the radio.

Most mp3 (iPod & iPhone included) require some amplification to drive a speaker, let alone several...

There has to be a box that decodes the signal and sends it to the speakers.

The box that decodes the signal and sends it to the speakers is called "a radio."

Can one get an amplifier and the appropriate harnessing for the $80 it costs to get a factory Radio10 on this forum (from me, for instance) or through eBay?

The speakers go to the radio harness which plugs directly into the factory radio. The aux jack also plugs into the radio through a different connector. Without the radio, nothing is connected.

You can get an amp without a radio but it still needs to be connected electrically and mechanically.

Better get some head phones. You need the radio to play the ipod though. The ipod can't power any speakers, with out some kind of amp. Sorry
