As you can see, you don't even need the smart's aux jack since this unit already has one. You simply would plug in the speaker wires to the amp, plug the ipod into the mp3 jack on the amp (or better yet, find a dock-RCA adapter), then wire in the amp into the 12-volt lighter using the included power cable and an appropriate lighter adapter.
A simple ebay search for "ipod car amplifier" will yield lots of results.
No need for me to try this since I have a Radio 10, but I don't see why the OP's question can't be addressed this way.
