Looking to remove some of the strain of bass on my front speakers.

I have got a 4X50 alpine amp and a 8" W7 from JL audio.

I never messed with OEM systems but wanted to know if there was a way i could remove the bass from the speakers and move that towards the Sub.

I heard there are digital crossover management systems i can buy but the idea here is to spend as little money as possible.

not sure if something like that would be possible with the stock head unit. It just doesn't seem to have remotely enough configuration options, especially for something such as having less bass on the woofers than on the sub.

Is $30 too much? I did a quick search on "crossover" and found several products down in that price range.

You might get better results if you find a reasonable audio shop and can go in with a (greater than $30) budget you're willing to spend. They may be able to hook you up so your system is well balanced from an audio standpoint.

^^ good point. the rockford 360 is great but a bit of an over kill in the smart. u can do wonders with them, but i use them for factory systems with 8 or more speakers. it all depends on what u want out of the system. for a smart i would not recommend that. they way things are now a days, i like cheap and easy. for the do it yourself person, bass blockers are a perfect fit. the 360 is kinda hard to integrate into a system.
