Hey guys,

New to the forum. Recently picked up a 2009 Brabus Cabrio. Was curious what types of navigation systems I could install in it by taking out the stock radio.

Does anyone have a list? Many thanks!

Just about anything that will fit a single or double DIN radio mount. Kenwood and Pioneer seem popular, but I'm sure there are others.

Smartmadness has a few choices - Keyword - Navigation. I have a Pioneer (couple year old D-3). Kenwood uses Garmin. One thing you may want is to make sure whatever you get has a volume knob. I had one earlier that didn't have a volume knob and it drove me nuts.

You could go with the proper in dash satnavs, or save yourself a small fortune and have a stand alone system, they are really neat these days and work well in the smarties.
I have the Garmin Nuvi 1300t, the t is for free traffic alert updates for life, and here in Britain it comes in handy.
You can also get free silly voices from the garmin website, I particularly like Squirrely, he's nuts! or there is a link to paid for voices, I have Ozzy Ozbourne,Arnie, and Yoda!
You can also transfer it between vehicles.

I got this one, true it is rather basic but I do not need to play DVD's while driving. The price is pretty good and no taxes for me in PA from amazon.com
Amazon.com: Pioneer AVIC-U310BT 4.3-Inch In-Dash Navigation Receiver with CD Player and Bluetooth: Automotive Amazon.com: Pioneer AVIC-U310BT 4.3-Inch In-Dash Navigation Receiver with CD Player and Bluetooth: Automotive
I did not install it yet nor purchased any dash mounting kit and audio harness.

I was shocked to discover that Eclipse (Fujitsu) wants something like $400, if I'm not mistaken, for the current map upgrade CD for my Eclipse unit. Is this typical? Are low cost downloads possible for some units? If so, then it seems like something worth considering when deciding which brand to buy.

Thanks Benjamin! I decided to go for the one that you have. You just can't beat the price! I also like how I can take the screen with me b/c my smart is a brabus cabrio and I do not need anyone breaking into it.

I also read somewhere that the Pioneer AVIC-U310BT will be the official navigation upgrade that smart will be offering on there 2010 models.

I just hope it is easy to install b/c I am going to try and do it myself!

Do I need a audio harness as well or can I use the one that comes with the Pioneer?
