New install: Kenwood 8120/Focal/JL/Sound Dampening

After receiving several referrals (from different forums) to Sound Innovations, I decided to give them this project, and it was an awesome decision. Ernie (owner) and Junior (installer for 10+ years) were great to work with. I suppose Ernie is doing something right if he's been in business for 20 years.

Products:
Kenwood DNX 8120
Focal 165 KR
JL 8" underdash sub
JL HD600/4 amp

Anyway, here are some pics that they took for me:

Strip down for Sound Dampening:

Sound Dampening:

Products used:

1) Cascade Audio VB-3: for car floor and engine cover

2) Dynamat Extreme: to line inner door panels

3) Blackhole Tile Block: to line outer door panels

Results: The car is SIGNIFICANTLY quieter now!

Final Product:

The tweeters were too big to fit on the outside of the cover, so they fabricated brackets to mount the tweeter from behind

Very nice. I'm always in awe by the patience some people have. Is the amp installed on the brace?

Great install tbone and you'll love the 8120 as much as I love the 7120. This install goes into the Members Library.

Very nice! Enjoy those Focals.

Do you know how much VB-3 was used? The last time I bought it was from Parts Express and it was about $18 a square foot. It sure does work, though!

Apologies to the experts, but VB-3 comes on a roll. Read the first sentence of the application instructions. It's not even glued to the floor:

Roofing materials Rock!

brian - My installer said he would need 3 rolls of the VB-3, but he was really cool, and told me to buy just 2 rolls, cuz he had some leftover from a previous project that he would use on my car, free of charge...that's probably the reason for the extra seams you see in the pics.

brian - your thread on the b-quiet install was actually what made me want to do sound dampening. I plan to do the pillars like you, but will try to do that myself one of these days.

Uh but the vb-3 is not the dampner product it is a totally different type product, their v-max line is comparable to the b-Quiet.They used the dynamat extreme instead.Dynamat extreme comes in sheets, right?
