The factory sub is not a superb piece of audio gear but it certainly helps bring some sound out of the not-so-great factory speakers mounted in the plastic-door acoustic chamber. While the sub's cone is smaller than the door speaker cones, the amount of base from the under-seat device is better than you'll get from a factory system without subwoofer.
If you want real rumbling base, you need a "real" subwoofer rather than this device used to round out the factory sound.
You might get better performance changing the door speakers and adding sound/vibration dampening to the inside of the door panels to significantly improve the acoustic chamber (which I have done with fine results). So - do you spend $100 for a factory subwoofer (my price expectations) plus some typically expensive shipping, or do you go the route of improving the system with a lot of labor and slightly greater cost? The subwoofer is 10-20 minutes to install if you have the right torx wrench. The speaker swap and dampener application is a bit more involved.
If you want to try out a $100 subwoofer (or a $50 Radio10), please PM me. They may not be audiophyle heaven, but the system is a little better than the Radio9 with no sub.
