Pioneer AVIC F900BT Navigation

Just installed the latest Pioneer AVIC F900BT. This replaced my Radio 10 6 disc changer (sorry sold it for $ 300). This has great features, Navigation, Bluetooth phone connectivity, DVD Player and most importantly more watts for the speakers. It sounds alot better. I also added the rearview camera which utilizes the screen. It is mounted under the license plate, I plan to move it above the license plate.

The only thing I have noticed is it is slow to boot up, but the MSN live feeds are great for traffic updates, weather, gas prices and local movie times.

I just installed the 4smartcar.com bezel, it fits perfectly and looks great. Also just installed the Diamond D3 500-4 Amplifier and Pioneer Premier Speakers TS-D602P, Pioneer HD Tuner. There's alot of room behind the driver's seat, if you notice the driver's seat doesn't go back all the way.

For more info check out Pioneer's website.

I talked with an audio shop guy yesterday about installing an AVIC F-series unit in my car, and he told me to stay away from the F-series, because they've supposedly got lots of software problems. Have you found any problems with yours?

Yes, the one from 4smartcars.com is excellent for any double din unit. Bought one from them and also the wire harness kit.
I also bought a Pioneer Avic-F90BT premiere unti from Al-Eds but still waiting for it since Pioneer held it to fix the bugs on the first units. It is similar to the 900BT but has an ipod cable included and a 2 year warranty.
Call Elie Rothstein at the 4smartcar site and he could answer all your questions regarding the install and dash kit you need. Very affordable in my opinion. He also owns the Al-Eds at West Hollywood. Overall a nice guy. I even approached him for a groupbuy deal on those Pioneer AVIC FSeriesfor a website I also belong too called AVIC411, and he went all the way in helping secure a discount code worth 18% on everything at Al-Eds store instead on just the F series.

Use a Best Kits double-DIN dash kit, made by American International. It has a double-ISO opening, not double-DIN opening, and looks great. I installed one yesterday in a client's car.

what's the current story on the Avic F90BT? still software issues? crutchfield has some irate comments in the reviews section on this unit - stylewise i think the interface is aesthetically one of the more pleasing of those i've seen - many of the others seem rather windows 3.1 rather than mac OS/X if you know what i mean.

i wouldn't seriously consider it without verification that the software issues were cleared up. also, to those that have used it, how was nav? i'm a big garmin fan but it seems the units that have garmin built-in aren't as nice in the GUI department for the other stuff.
