Pioneer AVIC-F90BT

For those that have installed this version of the after market radio/gps, how do you like it?

I had not planned on getting the XM or Sirrus or HD part just yet. Just the system, with standard stuff, and also some Infinity speakers for the door. Was curious how easy it is, the voice recognition, does it work well. Blue tooth, does it work well?

Any imput would be great. Going to get mine closer to March. Thanks.

If you don't require DVD playback, the F700BT might save you a few $$$.

I have a 700BT in my Scion which will someday be transplanted into a smart.

Bluetooth works well.
Voice works ok, but is somewhat limited. It's easier just to touch the screen rather than use the voice thing. It's something to show off, though.

I'm really pretty happy with it after the 2.0 firmware update.
It's a windows box really, with a 2 Gig SSD. Uses WinCE...in case you didn't know.

BTW, there is a 2.0 update for the F500BT as well now. This is the older unit without a CD slot (update is performed via SD card). I noticed that the firmware update for the F500BT has no mention of boot time improvement (whereas the other F series docs do). Might want to steer clear of this one (pun intended), unless someone has some first hand experience.

I have the 700 because I didn't need/want the DVD. I recommend it, but it isn't perfect. For exmpale, the GPS software while OK, isn't up to a Garmin or Magellan in terms of ease of use.

For me, installation was a bit of a b!tch. I upgraded with a big amp under the seat, new speakers subwoofer and HD Radio all in one shot. Because of my time contraints, it was a bit more than I could take in all at once. I'd get 45 minutes to work on it, and have to remember where I was when I left off. I think my car was in limbo for like 10 days.

As for sound, I'm in heaven. I couldn't be happier with the net result.

Thanks Geo,

I plan on doing upgrades myself as you have done. Going to start first with the Raido, then door speakers and then go from there. Might even try and add some back speakers to my Cabrio like SD did to his. I do want the DVD playback though. That way I can have something to do when I get bored sometimes while waiting for the wife while she shops or something of that nature.
