Radio Head Unit Advice... need Iphone compatability

I want to replace the head unit... The radio 9 just ain't cutting it.

I've tried to do some research but I end up getting confused more than anything...

I'm looking for a single din unit that is bluetooth and iphone compatable... the later proving to be the issue. What I'm finding is units are ipod compatable but when you plug in the iphone, it will play but not charge. I know it can be done because I currently use a tuneflex and it will charge while in the cradle.

I don't need GPS or DVD Play back... I'd like to install a scan guage in the lower din slot eventually.

Which iphone g3? Some radio heads are not compatible with the new g3 iphone. It has to be plug in the bottom of the iphone, not the headphone jack to aux. (to charge) One of installer at Bestbuy told me there is new firmware for the double din Kenwood models. This addresses the g3 iphones. I let you know I installing new Kenwood head in mine.

Yes it's a G3... we tried it with a Pioneer headunit today and the songs played but it wasn't charging... maybe it was a firmware thing. Same thing with my sony head unit on my Rodeo... played the songs but wouldn't charge.

FYI - The 3G iPhone and Touch are using a new 5V charging line. All current iPod accessories charge at 12V unless specifically designed for the new models, thus they are not compatible to charge these newer models. I know for a fact that Alpine is very close to releasing a solution for it's current models and new 2009 models will already have the solution implemented. I'm sure the other manufacturers will follow suit soon. In the meantime, make sure your iPod is fully charged overnight.

The iTouch chargers the iPhone does not

The newest iTouch V2 does not charge. The V1 does. Same with iPhone, 2G charges, 3G doesn't.
