satellite (Sirius)

For Christmas my husband got me the siruis satellite to go in my smart car but it would not work in my car. I had to take it back. The power source would not allow it and then put in the gps and that one worked. Plus the antenna would not attach to the car as it was magnet.

...hummingbird...welcome to our asylum...
...when you said "it will not work"..does it not power up or it does not play?...the antenna is not a big issue..many of the patients here have done cool mods to install them..

jetfuel...turn it up..

XM/Sirus work just fine. You need to get the vehicle kit, if it didnt come with one. It powers from the 12v above the cup holder. The best place I found for the antenna is on the dash, toward the windshield. I have mine 3-4 in away from the windshield. I ran the antenna wire from the base under the dash, behind the radio and onto the dash. I ran the 1/8" stereo cable below the radio, using a flat head screw driver to push it below the line between the radio and the dash, and into the glove compartment. The door will close and lock.

It can be done without an external antenna location: Hidden GPS and Satellite antennae for Passion?

You can hard wire either the GPS or Sirius/XM power, or put in a second 12 volt plug.

The common practice is to install the GPS and satellite antennas under the center dash fitment (the one that the vents come through). There is enough space for both there, and they have a clear view of the sky through the plastic cover.

Oddly enough, we faced this same problem with our 1997 Toyota Previa, and used the same solution there, mounting the antennas under the large center dash fuse box cover.
