Simple IPOD installation

I was mystified about the location of the MP3 jack in the glove box. To use my IPOD, I either needed to give up control and leave it the glove box or have a cable dangling out. I didn't what to tear things too much apart, so I performed this modification.

I removed the cup-holder assy; one screw. I loosened the front of the console by taking out several of the screws. I drilled a 1/2 inch hole in the back of the compartment to the left of the steering wheel and one near the left back of the glove box.

I went to Radio Shack and bought a right angle converter and a 6 foot cable. I installed the right angle converter in the MP3 jack and routed the cable behind the front console and up through the hole.

There is about 24 inches of slack to the cable. I'm probably going to install a light spring on it under the dash because if you push that slack through it drops on the brake/accelerator pedal (not good).

But the whole operation took about 45 minutes.

you could just have routed the cables around the front behind the radio bezel and not had to have made holes in your cars dash!

I used a similar setup to run the cable to my Drive+Play controller that sits in the recess on top of the foam piece in the passenger footwell. I found that a regular rubber grommet from the hardware store neatened it up and protected the cable from rubbing on the rough edges of the hole.
