So it begins - Complete A/V-GPS Install

Today I began the installation of the new Audio/Video GPS system to replace the junk that smart ships. I opted to go with the Pioneer AVIC-D3 kit that Crutchfield has for $799. This kit comes with the bluetooth and iPod modules.

I will update this thread as I go through the process and provide a detailed step-by-step in case you want to do the same.

Today I started by running the Satellite and GPS antennas. I mounted them on my rear spoiler. Here is a little teaser to show where I pulled the wires through - sorry my car got a little dust driving it around the Valley yesterday!




While I had all of the ABS off, I went ahead and wired in my Valentine1 radar detector and bluetooth microphone. Again, just a teaser until I can get all of the images in a nice step-by-step!



In addition to the AV stuff, I have a bunch of stuff coming from the UK and Germany that I will be installing including a performance kit from MDC!

I have managed to pack my smart with almost everything including the air filter upgrade that makes it sound mean taking off from a light. At regular speed she purrrrs just like normal. This car is fun and easy to mod!

holy huge pictures, batman! i can almost see some bacteria on some of those surfaces. looks good though! i love black. cant wait to see the pictures with the GPS finally installed. want to see pictures of the air filter upgrade done as well.

The forum does have a photo resizer (thanks SMART!) but photos this size really slow the upload. So, if you could resize the originals (maybe 50%) that would speed things up. Thanks!
