speaker questions

I dont know alot about speakers and stuff, so I have some questions.

I have heard people talk about component speakers, whats the difference between them and other speakers?

My speakers i plan to put in my smart are coaxial. That means that it has a mid speaker and a tweeter built in. Do I need a separate tweeter? If i do why?

My amp has preouts, what does that mean?

my amp can run 4 speakers, would i be better to run my 4 6.5" coaxial speakers, or run 2 6.5" coaxial, and one sub woofer, or or run 2 6.65 coaxial and 2 tweeters?

I have installed speakers, amp and radio before. That's just mechanical to me. I just don't know about what produs the best sound, or whats the best combination.

I have an Alpine cda 9883 deck, alpine amp mrp-f250, and 4 6.5" coaxial speakers. I will be installing the deck, amp, and 2 of the 6.5" speakers in my smart. What should i add to that for better sound? The choices are the 2 other 6.5" speakers, or 2 tweeter, or a subwoofer.

I don't think there is enough room to mount that many speakers and get a good sound.

if you want good sound and good quality just do the 2 speakers you have and depending how much bass you want you could go with a underdash one or put a single 10 or 12 behind the seat or if you want to get stupid with it put 2 12's behind the seats but thats overkill and i love overkill. if you want the best sound and best quality do the 2 speakers in the doore and the other 2 custom mounted behind the seats you can look it up to see what i mean and then put 2 tweeters right by the side mirrors and a sub behind the seat. hope this helps

speaker questions

I do like some bass, but do not want to rattle the windows. As a matter of fact I have never had a sub woofer except on my home theater system. I think i would like the sub woofer option best. I think the type under the dash (8") would handle the bass for me.

My amp is a 40 watt per channel with 4 channels. It has the ability to bridge 2 channels together to drive a sub woofer. If I bridge the two channels together, does that mean the Sub woofer could receive 80 watts?

Also it has built in cross overs. For running a single sub, what numbers would I set it to on the amp?

For running a sub thur this type of setup, what numbers should I be looking for on a sub that i choose?

I have components. They will allow you to have more wattage oppsed to 180w normal aftermarket door speakers put out. They also come with crossovers it is a much nicer setup but more expensive also

Is it that the term "component" refers to separate tweeter, subwoofer, and midrange? ...in the same sense that "component video" is red, green, and blue.

Unless someone is into tuning, wouldn't coaxial speakers design the crossover much better?
