Speaker system

I'm getting my Cabrio with a Kenwood Nav unit. Compared to other nonamplified speaker systems, how do the OEM Radio 10 speakers perform? Do they perform better with an aftermarket head unit then with the origianal radio? For those that have replaced the OEM speakers, are aftermarket speakers a lot better? Thanks in advance. . .Joel

Hi. Before I upgraded my head unit, I upgraded to the Polk dB651 speakers. Distinct improvement over the stock speakers, even with the Radio 10.
'
So far as upgrading the OEM speakers is concerned, it doesn't take a lot to improve over them. The Polk dB651s are a forum favorite.

I have a slightly used set for sale, since I have upgraded again. But, they're inexpensive, and I doubt I'll unload my set. I'd send them to you for shipping plus $2.

Anyone interested, PM me. Would be nice if you have a PayPal account. This is a freebee, basically.

While I'm at it, I've got a Radio 10 I don't need.

UPDATE 7/10/2009 --- Both the speakers and the radio have apparent takers.

The radio 9 speakers that came with my car seem fine to me, then again I only listen to NPR but few times I tried music I didn't hear anything wrong. I'm not a audiophile so I'm not sure if I just don't know what is good or bad.

Wow, pretty low standards there Jet, LOL

I delight in listening to music I am familiar with, and hearing nuances I'd not noticed before.

Darn, I guess I'm too new to send PMs. NCC 1701: (nice username, btw!) Is that a set of the Polks that you are parting with? I'd potentially be interested if they're still in good shape. I just got my smart last week, with the radio 9, and am not at all happy with the sound quality so far. The car is great! The stereo....not so much.

Does the radio 10 really offer anything that the radio 9 doesnt, outside of the CD changer?

Thanks,

-James

Hello, I would like to get the speakers if they are still available. I've been wanting to upgrade mine, since the factory ones are less than stellar.

Please let me know.
Thank you!

Steve,
Someone else has expressed an interest, sorry. If he should change his mind, I'll let you know.
