Please allow me to offer up the stupid question of the day. I am replacing my door speakers, I have an orange wire and an orange/brown wire. Which is (+) and which is (-)? Thanks
Usually, a solid color is the hot side. It really wouldn't make much difference on speakers, as long as you do ALL speakers in a consistant manner. They must be done the same or you will have phase problems in the sound and it will be weak sounding on the lower frequencies.
I believe the brown is ground (rhymes, yes?), consistent with euro conventions. The brown wire was the negative one when I changed my horn, so it should be the negative for the speakers, too. I'll let others correct me if I'm wrong.
Yep, the one with the brown stripe is earth.
Wiring it wrong will still work but the speakers will be in reverse phase and pull in instead of push out. The sound won't be as good.
