Stereo Controls on Steering Wheel

Was just wondering if anyone has or has looked onto installing stereo controls on their steering Wheel?

have never thought about that. u could make some thing custom with a remote. take it apart and do something like that. if you have a pioneer deck with a remote or remote capable u can get a remote that will go around the wheel.

I thought about it, but it's not possible. I am a Mercedes Benz Master Service Advisor, in the Mercedes the spiral contact in the steering wheel assy has brass rings that connect the communications between the buttons and the radio. The only way I can see it happening is via a remote or bluetooth device connected/integrated to the steering wheel surface and communicating to a non factory radio. It is possible but may not look very good, unless someone designs a cool looking remote that looks good when attached to the steering wheel.

Thanks. That's about what I thought. Parts of me wants to try to see if I could come up with something, but I don't really care. I was actually asking for my b/f. He's the tech head. I'm the type to pay someone who knows what they're doing. And you're right. If you have a remote you really wouldn't need the controls on the wheel.

I thought about the steering wheel controls too. A touchscreen nav with voice command would be a neat setup!
