There is no trunk in the Smart. You have to remember its 1/2 a car. ;-) It does however have a small area above the engine cover between sets and the tailgate. A box could be made for large speakers. I think a few have done so. There is some area behind the seats for amps or under the seats for small profile amps. The alternative is a sub box that fits under the dash on the passenger side.

Myself have 4 Polk 6.5" 2-ways and the JL 8" sub under dash. Powered by a Alpine PDX5 under the seat. No head unit. Full Carputer behind the seats. It is more then loud enough. I need to find my db meeter, I'm sure I can push more then 120db. At 40% your ears start to ring. Not as baseie as my truck with 4 5.25" 3-way cerwin vega's and a 10" Polk sub powered by 400watt Kenwood amp.

You could prolly fit 2 10" in the back in a box. But 12" you are libel to pop a window out

i have found out the measurments on the space behind the seats and i could very well fit 2 12"s in a ported box. like i said i like alot of bass and dont want the under dashthingy i will not haul alot of stuff so i dont see any better way to make use of the space lol

that should inspire you.. but keep in mind that the alternator will NOT be sufficient for your set up. the access to the engine bay, while not crucial every day, will be something to consider as you design your set up. The reduced cabin space versus your set up now in a different vehicle will be something to think about as you will be at about a foot from your subs. remember that the closer you are to the sound source the higher the perceived decibels.. the easier it is to damage your ears.

thanks for the input i plan to run a ported box and the rms on the amp is 1000 watts x2 so it will be about 2000 watts. i have been runing 1500 on my 65 amp alt and its fine and smart alts are 90 so i should have no prob. as for the small space right by my head they will be in a simple ported box no fiber glass or anything like that but they will also not be pointing to the roof like the link you have showed me they ill be pointing to the hach/tale gate thingy so this will despers the bass a little biit makeing it sound clearer and not so ruff on the ears. im not to worried about my ears though. i have been around subs for a while the most impressive system i have been in is steve meads with his 20,000 watt tahoe you can look it up on youtube the thing is nuts. but all im asking is there anybody with a couple subs in the back that could tell me what set up they are useing and how loud/clear it sounds. thanks

joe

The question begs to be asked, "Don't you like music?"

If the answer is, "yes", then you'd better give some thought as to how LONG you will be able to enjoy it, given your current fascination with deafeningly loud bass.

BTW, what about the REST of the audible spectrum??
