Have a stereo story for you'all. This weekend took car over to friends and changed the oil. He was messing with his wifi stuff. He had his stereo playing in the garage. I told him we should sync up the stream. Well after a few min of fiddling with the carputer. I attached to his network and to his stream. Told the players to sync and wallah. Garage and car both playing same music (Kinda like tuning into the same radio station, but only internet radio station). Pulled the iPhone out and remote to the carputer in the car. Turned up the stereo to 70% with the doors closed. Now mind you you can't sit in the car at 70% way too loud. Well with the doors closed and windows shut. It sounded like just like every other car on the road (not too over done) but only with the windows closed. You could clearly hear the stereo. Friend said not bad. I smiled and opended the door. It sounded like a discotec. LOL My friend was yelling my neighbors! I shut the door and turned back down the carputer. Was an interesting test and would be awesome to have a few cars with carputers synced up all on the same wifi network.

joe
hey joey im a bass head too if you really want to know!

i understand your frustration i do super big systems not car audio shop stuff but even more and get some slack about being deaf but i have actually very good hearing and i have had it tested once a year for the last 4-5 years at our works health fair so dont worry bass isnt the damaging sound its the high frequency's and abrupt striking noises like crashes that rupture your eardrums, bass can be detrimental but anyone that has ever been to a rock concert knows what happens.if your ears are ringing after you step out of the car you did damage.

huge battery banks of 16 volt batterys hundreds of feet of 1/0 power wire
40 cubic foot walls with 2 18"s
40-60kwatts yes i typed that correct
and these vechicles dont drive they are too heavy
this is the stuff i build but cant sit in them its too loud and actually is very dangerous

i dont drive down my road and boom boom like the old guys *****about but i could (sorry guys had to do it hahah)
im a sq guy by heart but their competitions are stuffy and boring im very involved with spl competition and i dont compete any more either i have a very good sounding sq'sh car that plays my music well and i have the smart, right now actually tonight i was working on my under dash box for 1 8" sundown woofer

if you are going to build a box in the rear of your smart go for it

if you need design help ask ill be glad to design it for ya

one thing if you do it will require a low xover point or the stereo image will be redirected behind you and it will be annoying im thinking about 60-75hz i know thats low but it will help the voice and instruments from shifting rearward

sorry my threads are like a short story ill stop now

sure ill help as much as possible

post the links in here im subscribed so ill get notice as soon as you post and ill get back

in all honesty i can proly make your car sound a lot better and even get a bit louder with one woofer than two

sound deading is gonna be huge in those doors though its gonna be one of the next things i do
at 70 mph they flap in the wind and are a major cause of road noise so at 140db they will do the same thing

kk thanks heres the link for the box and then the subs and the amp and if you want i can get you a link for the speakers...do you think adding 6/9's is a good idea i think it would be. heres the box HBX12VEGATM
and heres the subs i dont think im going to do the L5's or the L7's POWER ACOUSTIK PSQ-12 (PSQ12) <br>12" DUAL 4-Ohms 1800W PSQ Series SUBWOOFER and the amp the rms matchs so it wont put to much of a load on the subs. ill get 2 of these CRUNCH P1400.2 (P14002) <br>2-Channel 1400W POWERZONE Series AMPLIFIER

do you have any woodworking tools or a buddy that can help/do it for you ?

a custom box will outperform a prefab any day and can be made to fit your car and its shape better

id stick with a good set of coaxials up front if you can afford it no on the 6x9s it would require boxes or fabrication in the rear pannels

but if i could get the 6/9"s to be in the car and not look like crap do you think they would help much with the sound. and yes im good with woodworking but i dont have the tools to do it i was thinking of a custom box but the same shape and everything like the one i showed you but insted of 2 12"s i was thinking a 12" hole and a 10" hole so i could get the higher bass to what do you think?

mixing woofers is alwals bad no matter what unless they play different frequencys
and having them in the same box is bad too

i 12" woofer would be fine and require a smaller box too

if you plan on building the box in so it has trip pannels the 6x9s might look ok but really mids and highs should come from the front not the rear so id steer away

save the money spent on a 6x9 and buy a better set of 6.5" for th front even the bigger 6.75 so they have a bit higher output

if you like the square woofers
08S12L74 - Kicker Solo-Baric L7 Series 12" Dual 4 ohms Subwoofer

http://www.woofersetc.com/p4878/HA10...-Amplifier.htm

http://www.woofersetc.com/p6647/KS65...ker-System.htm

build a box with the woofer and port firing up mount the amp on somewhere safe (tailgate, behind seat or on the box)
make it about 3 cubic foot before port and sub and about 45 sq in of port 16 inches long

that should do the trick

i was going to do the solobaric's but i think thats going to be to much for the smart and they push alot of air so from what i here the smart's are very air tight and i dont no how that would sound or feel on my ears lol so im going to stick with the power aqoustic. i here of people doing the 6.75's but i dont want to trim anything id rather it be pretty much drop in. so i guess im sticking with 2 12's. and i looked at the size of the box i showed you and it lookes like it would fit in there pretty nicely i already looked at the dementions of the box and the trunk.

bass is air pressure plain and simple

more woofers of lesser quality will not outperform one good one it will just take up more space

woofer brand is not as important as enclosure design and excursion if you want loud

if you think a 12" l7 is too much do the 8" under the dash or a 10" woofer

6.5" door speakers are a drop in so do those any brand you choose

dont skimp cheap equipment is just that cheap a 2000watt boss will be a heavy paperweight if you try to push it to hard
