Is the shallower-mounting Polk db651s necessary, or does the standard db651 fit? Thanks!

When configuring my smart over a year ago, I somehow missed the link to add the subwoofer to the audio package. When I discovered, too late, that my smart would only have the two speakers, I was pissed at myself for screwing it up.

I like my music with a strong bass, so I thought I'd hate the two speakers. Well, I've had my smart since March, and I must admit that the two speakers are not bad. They sound far better than I expected them to. I'm a little annoyed that my left leg frequently blocks the sound from the left speaker, but otherwise, I'm happy with them. I would still like to add a sub under the seat, but I really don't want to spend a lot of money.

Does anybody know how easy it would be to do this myself? I am NOT the handiest guy with tools. Is it hard to do?

I found the staging on the cabrio to be similar to my VUE, with the midrange audio. It felt like the audio was coming from the front (surprise surprise), but the sub filled in nicely. I'm going to have to do a lot of tweaking with the settings, but I think I will be alright for a bit.

I listen to a lot of remixes/techno/electronic... I need both bass and highs - so a sub and tweeters are requirements for me. I'll definitely be replacing the midranges at some point on mine, and hopefully the tweeters will hold up as they seem to be hard to get to. I'll also be keeping the stock head unit - maybe adding an amp as needed.

I decided to add two Pioneer speakers to the back deck to increase the sound quality from my Cario radio 10... IT WORKED!!

I was surprised the radio 10 had outputs in the back of the radio for rear speakers!!! No fader, but it does have the outputs...

I hooked up the rear speakers and replaced the front ones with 6 1/2 Memphis speakers and it sounds really, really good!

If anyone wants my subwoofer from under the driver's seat, just PM me... $175 including shipping and its yours.

I got my Passion with the Radio 10. The subwoofer isn't bad but the door speakers were fairly lousy. I just installed a pair of Alpine SPS-600 and it was easy (except for getting the door panels back on). The sound is more than a little improved. I listen to everything from classical to techo/trance dance as well as lots of other stuff.

Definitely worth it. The Alpine SPS-600 were relatively cheap at BestBuy.

Why do they provide the speaker left + and - and the tweeter right + and - to the subwoofer? I mean, why run tweater outputs to a sub? Why not provide speaker left and right + and - ???? Just curious.

Sounds like standard passive crossover hookup to me. Also, they're not 'tweeter outputs' but more likely inputs going to the tweeter caps.
