Under-dash woofer
Hello all,
I have experimented with different placements of a bazooka in the car, and I think under the dash is the best placement. I tried in the back and there is mid-bass but the low end is all in the front toward the dash. This means the dash is getting better bass than me sitting in the seat!! That sucks!
Then I tried it in the front, and the bass does go more to the back where the seatback is. So now.. I need info.
What woofer size have people been able to fit under the passenger side dash? 8 or 10"? Then, does anyone have measurement specs of that space so a custom box can be constructed?
Thanks much

Hmm well I have a pair of Focal polyglass 6.5's in the doors and they are very nice, bass-wise, but I really would like the extra bass extension. I tried a 10" bazooka in the rear, but all I hear is about an 80 hz boomness at my seat. Which makes sense with the corner-loading effect in rooms- the opposite end gets the bass. Which makes me think a nice woof in the dash will go to the opposite side, pretty much where my seat is.
Anyway I was looking at the 10" JL's but the thing probably won't fit under the dash!

Check out this sub-woofer install in the passenger foot-well by smartgpspro
The photos show a very clean installation.

I'm totally interested in something like that. I wonder if a shop did it.

No, he did it himself. A LOT of work and quite time-intensive from what he told me.

I have a 6W3v3 in a sealed enclosure under the dash. JL's rock, no doubt!

Geez just a 6" sub? Are you all using custom boxes?
I wonder if someone will come out with a manufactured box for that space, like the JL stealthbox. That'd be killer!
