Where is the crossover hiding?

The Fortwo 451 radio 9 includes the wiring for tweeters (speaker not included). Is there a passive crossover built into the wiring package? I tried tracing the wiring back to the radio, but could not find the crossover. I'd like to replace the head unit and add tweeters, but don't know if I should use the factory wiring and simply splice in at the available connector or install new.

Info appreciated!

Run new wiring, I believe that the tweeters run off the "front" channels and the mids are powered from the rear.

A quick battery test would prove it.

My guess would be -in the absence of a visible crossover along the wiring- that the crossover is built into the electronics of the factory head unit. Connecting a full frequency output to the tweeter wiring at the connector would probably turn out poorly.

Correct. You only need a crossover to split the frequency from 1 channel, as the tweeter already has a separate channel it is already filtered.

Thanks to all for the helpful responses. I wired in a cross over to each new tweeter to be ready for a later radio upgrade. Working fine. Thanks again.
