Wiring question for new Kenwood

Is there a good way to wire the unit so that you don't need to have the key on or should I not worry about it. I know there is a constant 12v supply and a switched supply. Any thoughts would help.

On most cars (and I have no reason to believe the fortwo would be different), the constant-hot wire is there only to keep the clock running on time and preserve the radio preset memory; it can't supply enough current to power the stereo itself.

Thanks Rigger. Since I haven't seen any threads on wiring it differently I guess I'll just use it with the key on.

I had the same thing with my Pioneer. With the Radio 10 it had an on and off button. Wish these systems did so that I could watch dvd without turning the rest of the car to ACC. What a novel idea.

well if u want to keep it on w/out the key on then just hook up the constant and ing. wires. so hook the red and yellow wires off the deck to the yellow wire on the harness then you can use it without the key. remember u have to shut it off each time. it will not turn off with the key.

Thanks Napoleon. I will probably try that.

The only way to do this is to put in a on/off switch.
