Alternative towing method for trailer

Just ran across this. Since we DO have a tailgate it's an idea to just get a 5th wheel trailer. Who wants to be the first to try this? Jet? Are you game? Sock monkey? How about you?

I wouldn't even try it with my F150

But at least with the Smart the weight would be closer to over the wheels

Looks like Utah. They must of migrated from Indiana, Illinois or Wisconsin .

I like how he has incorporated some natural materials, like the 4x4 block of wood used as a support between the hitch and the tailgate.

Even in America, that can't be legal, can it?
Looks like a real bodge job to me, far too much weight to tow with the tailgate, and using the block of wood is a stroke of pure genius.
