confused r.v. tech

I have a customer with a 09 passion and he had a battery disconnect installed at the local dealer. Because of the brakes locking up after the car
gets to around 25 mph so I ran a positive feed to his cig lighter that will feed his even brake, so I had to run a positive wire to what is called a icx board, which needs a brake feed from the stop light switch. So I ran another positive wire to the hot side of the stop light switch cut the hot wire added a diode for no feed back. He came to pick his car and r.v. and I thought I had it working but since I had the disconnect still on it worked. I didn't think about the disconnect being on the ground side of the battery. So now I will have to run separate grounds also..
Im just wandering if any of you smart car people who tow behind a r.v. have come across this situation with the wiring or if you had it done at a shop and how they wired it..

Yea but with a disconnect you have no ground so not sure what your talking about, I'm working on a 09 and it has a ground disconnect. So did you get your power from the hot side of the disconnect? That is what I had to do and also get my grounds for the aux plug the icx board used on the even brake right from the battery.

any questions for installing a even brake system just let me know. My shop charges 120 a hour but I,ll do it for way less than that.

All this seems unnecessary to me.

The current advice in the manuals is to disconnect the battery. That is not necessary if you turn the power off with the ignition key after putting the transmission into neutral. Of course if you need power to operate a braking system which is mandatory in some jurisdictions, then there is a problem. I overcame that by using a small portable AGM battery which is charged every day or two. This eliminates power drain of the vehicle`s battery and also does not require having to start the car to charge its battery. The braking system I use is Brake Buddy - similar but not exactly the same as Even Brake.

By the way, I don`t understand why that `09`s brakes locked up at 25 mph. That shouldn`t happen whether the ignition key was turned off or left on, but then again I`ve never left power on when towing. Was it the car`s braking system that locked up the wheels (how could that happen?) or did it have something to do with the Even Brake system?
