It will only work on the 451. We can special order one from Europe for the 450, but it would be significantly more.

I'm seriously looking at this hitch, but would like to know if I'll be running into clearance issues as the car is so low already

yes ive scraped a little on my driveway with a good load in the car. the end of the draw bar, under the ball.
but overall, it works fine.
heres something that you WILL need to go with your hitch. i bought 1 and works very good, wait till you get your hitch, you'll see what i mean.

Better than Truck Nuts

Try one of these

Imagine the size of the trailer! For the boys pulling the BIG toys. This is a huge 6" ball and hitch. (most ball hitches are only 2"). >> Obviously, this is not a functioning ball hitch <<. But this novelty hitch cover is so realistic in detail that others will not be so sure that it is a joke. Made of high-impact plated PLASTIC. It comes with a BLACK hitch mount that fits into any 2" X 2" hitch. If you're really serious
Stupidiotic Giant Ball Hitch (too)

ABSOLUTELY DONNY! The only thing I find that is more annoying than the rattling from the receiver is my wife complaining about the rattling the receiver is making.

Haven't dragged it as yet but it sure does rattle.

The hitch affords some protection for the cars running gear as it is just a tad lower. A2Jack

Exactly Jack!! Say something bad happened like you had your wheels off and when you put them back on you got sidetracked because your wife needed you somewhere else you didn't tighten the lug bolts...

So if your wheel ended up falling off as a result of above, it WILL protect your drivetrain.

How does the car handle, performance wise, highway with wind etc. It a dog now off the line now, with the AC on even slower. Pulling the trailer.... what's it like. That looks like a nice rig you got there. I like it. Like to take my car to Colorado camping, next July to Rocky National park. Worry about the clutch in the car burning up pulling it. Warranty.... What is the big difference from the old hitch and new one????

A powered plug wires in just like normal EXCEPT that it has a power wire that leads straight to the battery and a modulator box (relays) so that all the power sent to the trailer lights come from the battery instead of being drawn through the factory wires. If the trailer shorts, it will not have any direct connection to the cars lighting. I ordered mine from Smartuniverse.com. It came with smart specific instructions but is basically the same one that many trailer/hitch accessory stores sell. I just saw the size of the factory wires and was shocked that smart uses such a small wire. That small of a wire is just asking for a meltdown when you get a short in the trailer wiring.

Smark. Slow getting back as we have been camping again. 5th trip and all is well. In fact I love the rig more each time I use it.

The car knows the trailer is there only on steep grades, and the paddle shifters take care of that. We run 70mph @ 3,300 R's on the freeway. In city's and towns we shift out between 3-4k with paddles.

Had passenger and all her gear, as well as full camper load, on this last trip , and the car got out from the lights with and ahead of most traffic. Brakes were more than adequate, in fact there is little difference with or without the trailer.

I very carefully monitored the clutch performance and feel no abnormal responses. As for Warranty, the OM says no trailer, but all small cars say that for CYA. I would wait out your 24k unless you can come in for service with a bike rack and say you only carry bikes on that hitch. A2Jack
