That's unusual - what was the actual cause of the alarm going off?
This isn't an after-market alarm is it?
Of course, all kinds of strange things keep happening with these cars. I'm trying to discover the cause of the rear glass hatch not locking. It is unpredictable - will lock after leaving it for 10 minutes - locked the last time it happened when pushing it closed as I pressed the unlock button - other strange things have happened with the hill lock and ABS features occasionally as well, many reports about transmission idiosyncracies, alarms going off if the key is removed too quickly, doors not locking or not unlocking, etc.
In my opinion this was a design attempt to equipe the car with too much electronic gadgetry and not enough R&D. Some of these things never needed to have microswitches etc such as with the door and hatch locking mechanisms.
