We've been out and about and haven't hit this board in a bit...

You guys are SCARIN ME. STOP IT !

Gonna head out tomorrow to gawk at the trees in the smokies. Gonna tow the Cabrio like a sack of potatoes.... Gonna have a bungee on it.... Gonna check visually and by feel that it is IN FACT in NEUTRAL...

I always have my co-pilot check that the Smart has all four wheels turnin with the parking brake off when we pull out. BUT, I guess having the car in a gear other than neutral would still allow the wheels to roll apparently freely on pavement?

We have looked at several other choices for toads, but to tell the truth the Smart is pretty decent as a toad since it's not just very small and light but SIMPLE to hook up and unhook etc.... A lot of folks are upset about the Saturn VUE going out of production since that is a VERY popular toad choice. The new model Chevy Equinox is actually almost identical to the Vue in many ways. They are towable without major limitations without mods, but they DO require some start-up and tranny surfing to keep the thing lubed each day. They also pretty much need a supplemental braking system due to weight.

Overall I still like the Smart as a toad. I wouldn't mind having a car with SUV type room now and then but so far we've managed with the Cabrio just fine.

I'll make EXTRA sure that the neutral indication is on the dash solid and maybe do a roll check when on fairly level spot.... I'm still usin the bungee without issue. Never did get the front end checked out. I do have power steering. Apparently it's not much of a problem! We sure do like the new motorcoach. Life is good. After lookin at leaves and eatin some grits we're gonna head home for a couple weeks til Thanksgiving and then head southwest again for the winter. I'm ready.

Good luck with the engine warranty work. I think if you have to pay for your tires that ya got out of this fairly well ... Stuff happens. With motorcoaches LOTS of stuff happens ...
