Smart Car Hitch Available In May

This is no means negative sales tactic, but one of our customers tried using the hitch from Europe on their North American Smart, and it does not fit. I hope this saves somebody shipping costs and some headaches.

There are some top fold overs on the frame butts that do not have clearance on the North American Car. Don't ask me why, but there's a differenece between the European and the North American car in that respect. Also, the hitch from Europe does not have safety chain holders as it is not law in Europe to have them, but it is law in Canada and the USA to have safety chain holders. Lastly the wiring kit is European and does not work with the North American Wiring properly. Your Smart has extremely sensitive electronics and a simple splice will not to the job and will interfere with your electronics.

Smart Car Univese has created a North American Trailer Hitch that has safety chain holders, and has a North American Standard class 1 style receiver so you can use accessories like bike racks and spare tire holders etc... It also comes with full North American Wiring with self power and circuit protection. Price: $650.00 for full kit including installation manual, all fittings, and no drilling. This hitch is powder coated black and very durable. The entire assembly is manufactured in North America.
This hitch replaces your entire bumper assembly and requires NO Drilling.

The hitch ships in early May and there is a 15% discount for pre-orders made before April 26.

For more info go to www.smartcaruniverse.com

Les,

Is the bumper replacement done in black?

Do you ship to the U.S.? If so, do you have any idea on shipping costs, duty, brokerage fees, etc.? How about Installers in the States?

I would consider driving up to B.C. to have one installed if you have someone to do it there.

Les,

I have the same questions as Dancote.

Would like to preorder, but cannot untill I know I can get one!

I would consider driving up to Eastern Canada to have one installed if you have someone to do it there.

Thanks,
Bob

If the 'Bumper' referred to is the bumper that is bolted (3 per side) to the tridion, it could be 'Sky blue pink'. It is located behind the plastic rear panel so nobody can see it.

Here is a neat little trailer, designed for mobility scooters, but could be used for anything... Can use with or without aluminum top and has a ramp.

$1700 sounds a little expensive for a trailer that size

The mobility scooter folks have a real high opinion of what their stuff is worth. Markups are real high, some up to 50%. Amazing anyone can afford them. I'd look somewhere else.

The bumper we're referring to is quite visible:
