Installed $149 Etrailer.com hitch

I KEPT SEARCHING for a normal priced trailer hitch for my new cabrio for2
Everything was priced at 500-700 us$ Are they nuts. Finally I found a well built unit for 149USD from etrailer.com. Custom made for the smart car, and priced good. It even mounts without taking off the entire rear plastic fender panel.
It took about 2 hours to mount. It bolts to the main frame above and outboard of the muffler. The main cross bar sits below the muffler. so the hitch might have to be removed if the muffler has to be replaced. Nice piece of metal at a good price. I will use it to mount a bike rack or just as bumper protection. JS

My concern with that hitch is the ground to hitch hight. it is only about 6 inches right?

Smartdigger - I have the uhaul hitch installed - sits the same as the other one (though it cost more - it wasn't available until just AFTER I went through uhaul - go figure). Anyway, yeah, the hitch sits low, so it is possible to drag if you are running down, say, a rutted dirt road. But since the hitch sits between the back wheels (having the wheels all the way at the back is handy sometimes), you won't catch when you come down off a steep driveway, speed bump, etc.
THe problem I have is getting a ball mount that rises high enough to level my trailer.

That is my only concern with this set up. Most of the risers I have found that would give me the 15" hight I need are for a 2" tube.

im using the e-hitch but its actually a curt hitch. they list it for $149 but free shipping starts at $150, so if you order 1 ft of wire to go with the hitch , it is free shipping.
i have a link to them on my bolt cover web page.
