Blue Ox has redesigned their baseplate so it can be used on all 08-09 Smart cars... with or without foglights.
The new part # is BX1987, and the factory has them in stock. The old part number is discontinued.
The taillight wiring harness with diodes is BX8848.
Go to blueox.com and search using "Mercedes" as the make of car, and choose either 2008 or 2009.
The screen will change.
Then, click on the year to see an installed photo of the baseplate, or click on the part number to read the installation instructions with photos.
The Smart will replace our last "dinghy", a Mini Cooper S. We've always used Blue Ox tow bars, baseplates and wiring. Their products have been first class and their service is first rate also.
