ReadyBrake install

hey all,

i just ordered my readybrake & await it's delivery. if anyone out there has installed one, where did you route the cable? i'm looking at drilling a hole right behind the brake pedal & having the cable travel under the front compartment but inside of the front under tray (evilution has great instructions for taking the tray off). any other suggestions?

thanx for your input.

I believe he is talking about a braking system for his Smart when he is towing it behind his motorhome.

While I am not familiar with the particular setup, will any motohome actually notice the presence of a smart on it's behind? I mean, it's not like it's going to push you into the ditch or anything.

first, "he" is a very mechanically inclined "she," thankyouverymuch.

second, since many states require a breakaway system for a towed vehicle, i wanted the least expensive supplemental braking system i could find. it turned out to be this:

ReadyBrake Supplemental Brake System for Towed Vehicles - Night Shift Auto for $336.25 & their readystop breakaway RV Towing Accessories - Night Shift Auto for an extra $100. having the brake is for peace of mind more than actual use since the smart is so light.

Photo would help - how does it hook up, etc. Hard to suggest anything without some more info. Thanks.

brake systems are fairly universal. they don't make them for a specific car. the wiring may have some tweaks. basically, what they're saying to you is, "are you kidding? there's no room to work under that thing! i don't want to do that job."

It's Done!

i borrowed a slim drill from my neighbor & mounted the brakeaway on the frame behind the wheel well. i popped out the cover for the fog light area on the driver's side & notched it, running the cable out that way. i'll post pix soon.
