I found a site with a list of possible trailers for the Smart car compiled by the sites owner. I checked out some of the sites. Some do not work any more. I am still looking for information on the 'Shadow trailer'.
BWG,
THe only "Shadow Trailer" I see on the net is a horse-trailer dealer in Ocala, Fla. By the looks of it, you can get one big enough to haul a smart, but not the other way around... Was there previously a camper named "Shadow"?

I think there was a link to it in on the page. It is - per the site - a trailer that connects via a mount on the roof of the car. It is supposedly on a VW Beetle. I tried doing a Google but could not find any thing yet.
Shadow Camper and a VW Beetle; Malaise Era Genius. It is a YouTube video on the site. It shows a camper that attaches to the roof of the Beetle. It is suppose to be light weight. The mention one for the Fiat 500. It would be neat to see some similar but smaller for the Smart.
