Question for Donny, or any one else: Any Idea if the hitch will interfere with the servicing of the engine? For example: the engine drop down during plug change? (Yes, we know the plugs can be changed without the drop, but that's still the way the dealers do it.)

Fighting the battle here to get the show on the road by the 4th of July. Michigan business incompetence reigns supreme. The Time Out "dealers" are a joke. One didn't even know he was one.

Looks like I may have to drive down to Earhart, Ind to put this together. I have one more chance tomorrow to see a part time dealer in the sticks that has one, but he won't help me with the hitch. Say's he only does MCs

Update: New dealer is really working with me. Put a deposit down today, and hope to have hitch and trailer in hand by Friday. A2Jack.

Hi, I'm new to this thread and had a few questions of the Smarts that currently have tent trailers.

How do you like it?
Trailer hitch bars is there one that allows for a center exhaust?
Rough price range of tent trailers
how much storage is available usually with your trailer?
How much average gas millage is lost

Thanks

i havent tried to drop the engine yet so i dont know about the hitch in the way.
i dont think center exhaust will work w/ hitch.
i can pack 2 sleeping bags, 2 air matresses same size as bags
1 small folding chair and table that comes w/ timeout. 1 folding step.
2 clothes bags and im sure more small packable stuff, 16 cu ft.
i get 37 usually and it looks like 32+ w/ trailer

Is this the hitch you are talking about. Looks to me that a center exhaust could work. I don't know.

In a few months or sooner I'll be trying one out with the center exhaust. According to my measurements it'll work but your coupler will be hot as heck depending upon what type of receiver you use. (I have one on my car without the center exhaust)

You're right Donny - I planned to get a receiver extension and that'll solve it.

thats most likely a good idea because its darn hard to back/stear the tent trailer? with such little overhang?.
the problem might be theres more slop in more fittings. right now im waiting for a anti rattle device that secures the drawbar in the receiver tighter. etrailer .

Think you could still have the smart bike rack on while the trailer is hitched?
