Travel Supreme Smart Car Garage (RV designed specifically for the Smart)
Travel Supreme has a new model that includes a nifty little garage designed to fit a Smart Car. A lift mechanically extends out of the enclosure. You park on the lift and it pulls the smart car inside the cavity of the RV.
Base price for the 2007 was $357,525 so I suspect a 2008 with options is pushing $400k+...but here's a 2007 wanting a home for $297k. http://www.rvt.com/rvdetail3688562.htm

New for 2007, the garage can be modified to fit a Mercedes-Benz Smart Car. The motorhome includes two super slideouts. The garage in this unit is below the bedroom and the bedroom ceiling height is still 6 feet 4 inches. The coach is built on a Spartan Mountain Master ME2 chassis. The all-electric house (no LP onboard) includes a standard Hydro-Hot hydronic heating system. It also features mitered cabinet doors, a 10,000-pound hitch, polished Corian countertops, and an air-assisted sealed entry door.
OPTIONS: Smart Car; numerous glazed cabinet finishes; radius porcelain tile shower; two-piece washer and dryer; keyless entry with remote; Corian slide-out dinette table cabinet; full tile floor with steps.
Its not the only one, there is a company in Illinois that makes one too that I posted about a few months back.
You have a link? I've seen them with Mercedes roadsters inside of them, which I think is a European company. First time I've seen one with a Smart. The motorizing out feature makes sense because it'd be hard to get inside and park it...at least for most people.
Be kinda neat for Sprinter Vans to have something like this...technically it would fit inside a sprinter with similar modifications. That would be a neat camper van, but likely would take up too much interior space which would then make it a cargo car carrier van.
I'll bet with fuel prices being what they are and the motorhome industry reeling ffrom manufacturer and dealer failures, you could get this coach for less than $200K!!
Dr. Custom,
A neophyte's question: in the picture, it looks like the 450 is very near the door and it seems a pretty tight fit, would a slightly longer 451 still fit?
The TravelSupreme ME coach is WAY nice for the Smart. Ya have to get the floorpan made for the 451 model from what I've heard. Unfortunately, TS is hors d' combat due to the economy as regards giant diesel motorcoaches... There are a few available around the country still as new 08 models. The new company, which is owned now by Jayco will NOT supposedly build this type coach any longer. More is the pitty...
We were out the last month again in our Damon garage coach, and the Cabrio made the trip quite pleasant.
The Cabrio loads in/out of our coach in a breeze, now that I've gotten the hang of backing up to just the right sweet spot. The Workhorse chassis strengthened for the job at Damon handles the Smart with nary a complaint. The car stays clean and chip free AND puts no miles on it's cute little odometer. Hey, gotta get SUMTHIN back from giving up the large master style bedroom.
We're gonna park our butts at home for about two months this time and then head to the southwest for the entire winter this year. The Cabrio will go with us again.
So far we've put on many thousands of miles with the sidecar rig or the Cabrio in the coach on various trips and they both work just peachy.. but the Cabrio is WAY nicer in the rain and the A/C sure does come in handy once in a while too. We are gettin pretty spoiled I'm thinkin...
This month we were "camping" near Nashville, Tennesee on Priester Lake and they had bad localized fuel shortage apparently due to pipeline damage from the hurricane in Texas. A couple times we wanted gas there was none to be had at all and sometimes one could only get regular. At least we could fuel the Smart from the handy-dandy system provided for just this task on our coach. This was one reason we chose a gas coach instead of diesel. This can come in handy once in a while if ya carry a car or motorcycles and like to stay in parks that ain't exactly inside an "urban" area.
Fillin the Cabrio a couple times from the coach wouldn't even show up on the gauge in that fat and thirsty beast ...
Anyways, the TravelSupreme ME coach can handle a 450 or 451 Smart when configured properly. They are no longer in production, but some are available. Their advantage is a smallish but floor-level bedroom ahead/above the garage area AND not having a ramp to drive up AND being able to tie down outside standing on the ground.
The BAD thing is they are ALL ELECTRIC coaches, with lots of gizmos and MANY large batteries in the back. No gas applicances at all. Also, the garage area isn't really able to be used as a "room" at all when yer parked. On the other hand, they are way nice and supposedly drive real nice like a "normal" TS coach. Pretty decent quality coach. Not cheap. When they get down to about 100 grand they would begin to look pretty spiffy to me I'm thinkin .... ;-))
