wiring Smart for RV towing "HELP"

Hey Guys, I am confused and need some help wiring up my smart for towing. I have installed diodes, wired in a converter on the coach side, checked and double checked my connections, but still no lights. What is the secret? Perhaps I am using the wrong converter or I need something else to make things happen. The configuration on the coach is a combination bulb for tail lights and brakes, with a separate bulb for turn. Of course you know how our Smarts are set up.

I know someone out there knows the answer so help us get back on the road. Thanks

rabbits - I had Roadmaster in Portland install the wiring, it took them 4 hours and two tries to get it working...and they do thousands of installs every year.

Is it to have the Fortwo towed by another vehicle or have the Fortwo tow some thing?

Have you checked Smart Car Universe? They have towing solutions.

Have you checked with a meter to determine that in fact you have good voltages on the proper pins of the RV plug? Sometimes if you have an RV with the plug installed at the factory, there may be a little black box in the rear power cabinet that may have a relay and/ or a few fuses that MIGHT not be seated ....
A poor rear ground wire on the RV will also sometimes cause the toad wiring to do pretty much nuthin....

I dunno...
