3 used smart cars in San Antonio at MSRP+
A smart salesman in San Antonio called me this afternoon to say he has 3 used smart cars for sell. They're a bit pricey, so I believe I'll wait for my reservation to come through. All of these have the full remaining warranty (~ 2 years ~ 24,000 miles). The salesman's name is Juan Gomez - 432-631-7255 (cell). Other than being a potential smart customer, I have no association with Juan. He and his fellow sales people at this dealership all seem very nice. They are associated with Ancira, who owns a number of the dealerships in San Antonio. I've done business with Ancira before and they treated me very well. Here's a description of the vehicles.
1. Used 2008 Passion - 30 miles on odometer - Yellow with Black trim. Fully loaded. $22,995. MSRP is ~ $16,000.
2. Used 2008 Passion - 40 miles on odometer - Yellow with Black trim. Fully loaded. $22,995. MSRP is ~ $16,000.
3. Used 2008 Cabriolet - 2900 miles on odometer - Red with Black trim. Red trimmed seats. $26,900. MSRP is ~ $18,000.

Yes, saw them last Friday and heard one salesmen offer the two passions for 24,000 or more for each one. I was getting accessories there I told the one older couple like in 60s that I loved mine and they asked what color and how long of wait. I told them I didn't wait long when I want something I make sure I get it. They said oh we are the same I'm taking this home with me today I smiled and the salesmen gave thumbs up to me. It was disappointing though seeing others in someones ordered smart though! Which had name on it.

How did these vehicles become "used"

Any idea how these low mileage vehicles became "used". On two of the vehicles, I found it odd that one had 30 miles and the other 40 miles. Did you get any indication the dealer might have flipped new vehicles or orphans to sell as used vehicles at a price higher than new MSRP? For example, the dealer might have purchased a car from someone who ordered a car and took delivery, but didn't want to keep the vehicle. The salesman said he thought the vehicles might have come into the dealership from an auction. That seems a bit whacky, but I'm not sure what's available at auctions and how these auctions work.

The salesman said they weren't floor samples or demos. They haven't received the new 2009 floor samples and demos yet. He said the two low mileage smarts were registered to their first owner or owners about three months ago, so that's why they're being sold as used. It's also interesting that these cars are in a discontinued color, yellow. I would have jumped on either of these vehicles if the price hadn't been $22,995. I can see a $2,000 premium over the MSRP of $16,000, but not $7,000. (These are very nice cars, but, in comparison, last week I bought a beautiful new 2009 Toyota Camry LE with leather seats and other options for $23,000 which includes an extended 7 year 100,000 mile warranty, a 4 year full maintenance plan, and loan forgiveness insurance.)

Well I got a call about month ago to get orphan yellow/black with Black wheels. However, they told me all the options and it's yours for 27,995+ ttl I told them let me think. I think NOT I had just purchased one for almost 12,000 less! After they called me. So went picked mine up money in hand emailed them said not interested. I get a call back and they tell me good NEWS my boss wants this smart gone he will take 24,995+ ttl LOL I said didn't you get and read my email he said yes but would try again in case my deal didn't go through. It did I m keeping my reservation as well said I didn't like wheels that were on it that were black. I heard the salesman on Friday tell the older couple that the owner picked his car up took it home then brought back and sold it back to them. The couple asked why so much more then the price online. He said it had added options that were done to it. I think the older couple got hosed if ended up getting it. I know there demo on showroom was a smart skeleton.
