My DDE hasn't worked in over a month, and when it did it was Dec-Feb. I spoke with the dealership and was told my Smart won't be ready until mid-2009 at the earliest based on what they've seen.
I reserved in September '07 and configured in August '08.
A quick note about Smartville: it's holiday season... Don't know for sure, but I suspect they closed for a fortnight or so. DDE is dependent upon production schedule, isn't it?

with the DDE i am really hoping that my car is in production and will be delivered next month because i dont have a car at the moment. They really low ball you on a trade in at the smart dealer so i privately sold my other car.

How bad was it? I'm currently comtemplating the same for 01' BMW X5.
ordered mid August 08, configured 12/31/08 and got april09-june 09 and now changed to march 09-may 09
When do you het the VIN? is it automaticaly or you have to ask for it?
you know from what i understand the people at the smart denver are kindof lazy when it comes to getting you the information that you need or want. they just pretty much call you when your car is there waiting for you. people have told me that you have to ask for the R-11 which contains your VIN and shipping info. I am really tempted to just go in and get me an orphan.
