July Activity

Fellow Smartians,

Today I woke up and realized how lucky we are to have cool cars, great friends and the FREEDOM to enjoy both! So I lit a couple dozen M-80s, had breakfast and posted this.

Now, in light of our many gifts, I think it time to exercise our choices!
LET'S PLAN A JULY ACTIVITY!

First the bad news:
-Yes, it's hot. *yawn*
-Yes, many folks are traveling, committed or otherwise obligated. *yawn*
-(Fill in your favorite bad news here). *yawn!*

Now, the GOOD news!
-It's summer!
-We have established that we like each other!
-We have also established that we like to eat!

I say we combine these happy facts and -- no, Smark, not "indulge in cannibalism."

I was thinking we should have a BBQ picnic! Like you, I am busy busy busy, but no one expects you to participate in EVERY activity. If you can't, you can't. But if you CAN, how does the last Sunday of the month, July 26th sound? We could meet at Antioch Park (or anywhere), chat and chow down.

Since it's ME writing this, I always have questions, right? (See?) (SEE!) So here goes:
A. Are you interested?
2. Are you available?
2a. Do you have a better idea?

If enough of us answer Yes to A and 2, we'll start organizing. Like, When, Do we cook or do we just bring food, Shall we try to make this a Big Deal because Hey It may be The last Really Nice Weather For An Outdoor Shindig, Who does what, How will we get ice cream to not melt, Who brings the kangaroos, etc.

I can foresee a pleasant meal together, providing us time to catch up, discuss the (probable) 1st Annual Smart Nationals coming here next June, and time to take a cruise together.

What say you?

Happy Independence Day!!
Terry

I'm in!!! -- Date looks good from here.
If your suggested site does not work out for some reason, I'd be happy to host it here in Topeka -- some of you may remember our "meeting" in Gage Park back in April.
I also have three or four food coolers and drink coolers to offer to assist the cause should they be required.
Sounds like a lot of fun to me!!!
Karen

Excellent!

So far we have a resounding YES from the Brilliant, Talented and Lovely VOCAL members of our loony bin! This makes me Smile!

Now, what about you other Brilliant, Talented, Lovely (or Handsome if you prefer) SILENT members? We'd love to have your input and participation!

Actually, we don't so much care about all that, we just want your FOOD! Ha ha!

So far the list is:

Karen (and ???)
Frank (and ???)
Steve and Melissa I MEAN SHARON! Sorry! (Steve told me I'm never supposed to mention Melissa.)
Me and HOPEFULLY Karen

Andy? Alphonzo? Marcia? Clinton? Anita? Griff? Don? Chip? Ruth? Steve? All you other folks whose names aren't jumping into my head as I type this? YOU know who you are!

Plenty of time to jump in.

And does anyone have a strong feeling about Cooking vs. Not cooking?

I'll admit I love the taste, smell and "vibes" of freshly cooked food, but I'll also admit cooking out at a park shelter leaves a lot to be desired. Based on my warped view, I would vote to BYOPF*, with the expectation that we will share. Again, that's my opinion. What's YOURS?

Terry

Since I got a new job that requires me to work on sundays until 5:00 am, I'm not sure if we are going to be able to attend. I'll let you know.

New Smart car at work. Sheri got her car the 4th of July. She's really excited. First red and black car. I invited her to the picnic. I've known her husband Mike for 31 year. He was my 2nd supervisor. He's retired now. Good keyboard player.
