bent,
Have you had any contact with the dealer yet? I have talked to them a couple of times over the last three months but they have not been a fountain of knowledge and information.

I will be getting my new smart car from Aristocrat hopefully someday! #1247 got a ways to go yet I'm sure! I live in Warrensburg. I'm not suprised by the lack of information from them! The "Wait" will be worth it.... Good things come to those who are patient!
The wife and I were the first ones to test drive at Aristocrat this fall! We definately got the "BUG". It's gonna be a good year! woohoo

I called Aristocrat today! They didn't seem to know very much at all! The person I talked with wasn't with the smart dealer there. So I assume that our best bet is to wait until Jan. 02 and call them directly to answer any q's. Looks like you'll be cruising KC in your new smart before I will.

I called a couple of weeks ago to find out if there was going to be a different phone number and the operator/receptionist said they didn't know whether or not there would be a separate number.
In late November when I talked to a gentleman who was supposed to be the smart guy he said that they would be open in late December with cars available for test in the first week of Jan. I don't think that will come to be. I told him my reservation number and he said the car should be there for my by the end of Jan. or the first week or so of Feb. I think that he was way too optimistic. My calculations are to take delivery by the end of march, actually I figure about the 2nd or third week we shall see.
What I am really interested in at this time is getting my hands on a car for at least a couple of hours so I can really see what it is like in a variety of driving conditions. Oh well it is only time
P.S. Anita that day at the Aristocrat drive was terrible. A young man backed his Hummer into my Jeep to the tune of about $1500 and it was too hot to stand in line but like a fool I did

Cookn: Yeah, I'm just going to wait until after the first of the year. I don't want to be a pain in the backside; just want some info!! I'll keep it nice.
DB: Yes, I've thought about delivery also, and figure it to be around 4 months from confirmation. There was an insider on the Canada website, and they told me from my reservation number, I should get my car in March, or a month either way. So, Feb. would be just awesome, but I'll wait till April if I have to. Hell, after this long, a month is nothing! On the other hand...I just CAN'T wait!! I so much just want to get it & go cruising!! I agree, the test drive wasn't nearly long enough. But I did go back to Oak Park on that Monday, and drive again. That's when I found out that manual mode, shifting myself, is so cool. I drive a manual now, and when you shift the smart yourself, it almost makes the jerkiness non-existent. It's so FUN!!
Oh, man...that sucks about your car. And yes, it WAS hot. It started out fine, cause it was cloudy. But once the sun came out, forget it! But then again...I stood in line again on Monday, too. ;-)
Oh, hey, I just thought of something. There was a man in line behind me, that said the actual smart dealership building was going to be on the Missouri side. If you've been talking to Aristocrat, is the smart dealer building going to be on the premisis there in OP? I've not had any contact at all with anyone here in town.

Anita:
The actual location of the smart dealership is where (get this) the AMG lounge used to be. It is kind of on the N.E. corner of the building. If you drive by on I35 you will note that one small part of the building that juts out has the area above the windows painted black. I suspect that they may put the smart logo there. Anyway the showroom is under that area of the building. You can get to it by walking up the "alley" that leads to the shop. There is no need to go through the MB showroom and mess with the receptionist.
I also went to Oak Park on Monday and was there early and there was no wait for a drive. There was also a guy there with a 450 which drew quite a crowd.

Oh, that's cool! I was afraid they'd somehow put the dealership across the state line, and we all know what a hassle THAT is!
Really?? There was a 450 there on Monday? Well, I missed out. I was there hmmm...let's see, I'm sure it was after lunch. My boss had heard so much about it, he insisted I take him to see the car. (Twist my arm, why dontcha!) So, off we went. I'm sure it was around 1:00, and I stood in line about an hour or so, drove round Oak Park, and then stood & gawked awhile. LOL! I think we were gone around 2-2.5 hours. My husband has seen a black 450 round town, out in that general area.
Oh, I just can't wait! It seems so close now, after waiting all this time. How did you hear about this car, DB? Most everyone in line at the invitational had been to Europe & seen them. Oh, I should be so lucky...I saw it on the Wii commercial, and just had to have one. At that time, I had no idea what it was, or if it was even a 'real' car. Investigated, and here I am. Just in time, too, because I found the website during the 2 week 'insider' reservations. I just waffled on putting the $99 down, and finally did it on 4/4. So, I'm not too far down the line.
