Kansas City August Club Meeting Plans

OK... well here is my suggestion...

Next Saturday is the cruise in Belton. I figure that if you all are up to it we can take a drive down there and park along main street with the rest of the cars. We can meet for lunch somewhere around the vicinity of I-435 and Metcalf (KC Masterpiece, Chartroose Caboose, or ??). At lunch we can discuss any matters that may need to be discussed about the club. Then we can all caravan down to Belton to line up on main street. If we get there early enough (3 or 4) then we should have no problem parking together. We can then show of our little babies and believe me people got a kick out of mine in the past. I think that they would be floored if more showed up with me.

Also I have been thinking that we may want to name our club.... maybe make up some banners. I know someone that could do it so lets all think of a name and some ideas of what you think the banner should read.

Ok.... well where we meet up at depends on weather we want to eat first then drive or as Anita Suggested meet here then drive and eat there. It does not matter to me. Don, I only suggested Metcalf and I-435 because of the more choices of places to eat. We can do 103rd if that better suits some of our members. Sorry I have to cut this short but as it stands right now we are looking at about 4 or 5 of us. I think that would be great and if we have more even better. We will iron out some more later.

I am not so sure of places to eat in Belton but I did a search and this is what I came up with. I will leave the selection up to the group.

I think depending on where we decide to eat will really determine the time that we meet. It has been pretty much a regular thing to have a meeting last about an hour not including eating and any chit-chatting. Now without hearing from any more members that may be less. We could meet any time between noon and PM. Any time after that would be cutting it close.

As far as how long you stay at the show depends on the person. I am not going to hold anyone to stay any longer then they can. I would just like to have people stay long enough to get some good group pictures of cars and members. The official start time of the show/cruise is PM but I have heard that it fills up fast and with a group the earlier the better. I have always gone around 5 to 6 and I have had to park usually at the end of Main.

Well I will sign off and let those of you that want to attend decide where you may want to eat and what time would be best for all of you.

Andy & Don,

Mercedes Benz Club of America has identified the SMART in its rule book for Driving Events and Concours (the UNIMOG is also a MB brand and on the list;). John Ryan (Vice President of the KC Chapter) is building a Special Interest Page for the SMART the same as a C, E & S class would get. He should have the site running next week and once you decide on a group name he can put it up there. But the club is ready to go as Mercedes Benz Club of America Smart Cars.

I really like the idea of eating in Belton - that will save time and maybe get us in a good position for the "cruise" parking spots? I don't know any of the local restaurants there so anything the rest of you want is ok by me.

Alright since I have not heard from to may people about where they would like to eat I am going to make a decision and say Ryan's. It is about the only place that i can think of that can accommodate all that may attend without to much headache. It is a buffet style restaurant so as to hopefully please everyone.

I figure that for those of us that will be traveling into KC or just north of 135th we can meet at 103rd and State line at about 1:30pm in the Waid's parking lot (next to McDonald's). I would say that we would wait till about 1:45pm and start heading down to Belton, thus meeting at Ryan's a little after 2:00pm. For those of you who are more on the southern part of the city you may just want to meet up with us at Ryan's. Below you should find Ryan's address if you would like to map quest it.

I will need a head count of those of you that plan on attending so that I can make sure that Ryan's can accommodate us on the date and time that we require. You can just reply here or send me a PM. If there are any issues with the times that I have set please let me know and we figure out a time that better suites everyone.
