Kansas City BBQ meeting

Here is what I know so far. On October 18th there will be an invitational BBQ contest held at the Fountains, a retirement community in Independence. If past contests are any indication some of the teams will be "world class" .

We could meet somewhere and caravan to the site. We would have to be there about 10:30 and we would be finished by 2:30. I suspect that somewhere between 10 and 20 could be judges.

There is a place out in front of the facility where the cars could be displayed. I am also sure that if anyone was so inclined some of the residents would be thrilled with a ride (not mandatory). For the last two years there has been a hot rod show. If that occurs again there might be some modification to parking and showing the cars.

As of today only the date is set but what I would like at this time is an indication of interest so that the facility can determine interest and decide if that fits what they have planned this year.

We would like to attend any single meeting, unfortunately the distance and havin g to drive 2 cars because of the kids makes it difficult, however with such a long time before this one we can reserved that date in our agenda.

I am up for getting together anytime... I am in but how about getting together anytime in the less distant future??? I offered up a few suggestions of meeting on a Friday night at the Longbranch at 91st and Metcalf... or at one of the once a month cruises at the Winsteads at 103rd and Metcalf. I have taken Sr Swatch to the one at the Longbranch and it has received much praise. They even give a 10% discount on food with a drink purchase to all of the cruisers.... I would really like to meet all of you and see all of your cars.

Sounds interesting, I'm tied up this weekend with out 50th but lets think a week or two down the road.

I hope your BBQ meeting is better than the one in Indianposls. Looks like there dealer promised a drive from the dealer to the downtown area and then to a restaurdant and a BBQ dinner. According to them, no escort for there drive (were told it was 'too expensive') and the BBQ ended up being hot dogs.

At least they still had a good time meeting everyone. If you hvanent' already, you can read bout it at the Indiana Chapter thread.

The BBQ will not be a problem as it will be contest quality cooked by teams that regularly compete and some of which have national rankings. It will take place at a retirement community and not at a restaurant. Plus my son, a degreed chef is in charge so I will have someone to beat on if all is not well (LOL)

Our dealer is planning a meet later this summer at the dealership with catered BBQ, they usually do things well so we may have 2 opportunities this summer

We would have to be there about 10:00 and we would be finished by 2:30 at the latest. Judges sign in at 10:30 but those who have never judged will require a briefing on what and how to judge. I suspect that somewhere between 5 and 10 could be judges, although they will try to include more if possible.

There is a place out in front of the facility where the cars could be displayed. But they would like to have the cars in the lot with the competing teams. I am also sure that if anyone was so inclined some of the residents would be thrilled with a ride (not mandatory)

The fountains is located at 2100 S Swope Dr, Independence, MO 64057. We could meet somewhere and caravan or all meet at the Fountains

Well, crap and CRAP!

I will be unavailable any of the 17th-19th. Seems I'm going to Nebraska for a rocket launch with guests from Wichita. Sorry Don! I would love to come gorge on -- I mean JUDGE! -- BBQ but unless we get rained out, I won't be able to. Can you get me a to-go bag maybe???
