Register and mark your calendars now, because this is an event that could truly save your life! MBCA - Kansas City Section is pleased to announce that, Saturday, August 16, 2008, our club will once again host its Defensive Driving and Autocross School, at
The Woodlands
9700 Leavenworth Road
Kansas City, Kansas
Nationally acclaimed and respected driving instructors, Frank and Mary Alice Cozza from Mercedes-Benz Club of America, will direct this full-day event, with the help of local driving instructors from our own section, as well as instructors from the Kansas City BMW Club and the Audi Car Club of Kansas City. You’ve seen Frank’s and Mary Alice’s names plastered all over The Star Magazine because of their reputation in Defensive Driving Education, and their dominance in national driving events. We are extremely fortunate to have been able to arrange their participation in this event, and look forward with working closely with them.
If the allure of a fun, educational, and life saving event isn’t enough to get you excited and involved, maybe the price will. As a member of Mercedes-Benz Club of America, you can take advantage of this life saving event for just $30.00!
And, to encourage safety with our younger drivers, this event is FREE for teen drivers when participating with a paid adult member!

A Morning session will include a classroom instruction, detailed explanation of the course, and one-on-one defensive driving instruction in your daily driving vehicle. Everyone is to “bring what you drive”, so you learn how “your” vehicle reacts in a defensive situation. You’ll navigate a “course” of cones, obstructions and situations, to improve your reaction to all sorts of driving variables. After a Lunch Break at the Woodlands Kennel Club, an Afternoon session will put into practice what you’ve learned on a REAL Autocross course.

After the Driving Event, we’ll recount the day’s activities and revel in our accomplishments over Dinner at Johnny’s Tavern, 6765 W 119th street in Overland Park, KS. Awards will be presented for the top honors, and possible others, too.
So, no longer will you have to just read with envy the results of the track events at Starfest, StarTrack and Gemutlichkeit, you’ll be wanting to attend and compete! This is your chance to get a head start on honing your skills for next years MBCA Regional Event, the Mid-America Caravan, hosted by our Kansas City Section.

If I had kids this would be mandatory training before they are out driving alone. I would also require a summer of autocross events to get their reactions correct and natural.
By the way, it's never too late to train the driver.
