Glen:
I totally agree!! Where the heck are all these babies? I've had mine 3 months, and have yet to meet another on the street! My hubby drives all day, so he spots them every so often, but I've never seen another one. I'm thinking maybe they are like Sasquatch...just an urban legend! LOL!!

I saw a yellow and silver(?) on southbound Metcalf and 71st on the 4th. I was turning and I really did not get a good look at it.

I keep saying if we want to bring them out of the woodwork we need to get together as a group.

Andy:
I agree about the get together, but I just wonder how many are delivered & don't post on here? If they've delivered approx. 125 from Aristocrat so far, and approx. 25% of them go out of town, then that leaves over 90 here in town? And how many of us are there that post on here? Maybe 20? I think if Aristocrat had some gathering, or was involved somehow, we'd get more people together. What do you think?

I know that Aristocrat wants to have a get together, but they are just waiting for when they have more cars out there.

I think that with what you say about 20 of us that post on here get together. Say once a month for lunch or something and post it in the paper as a club gathering for other smart owners to read. I think that we should grow considerably.

I think that given the physical size of the Metro area with only 100 or so cars on the road that they will be few and far between. Figure somewhere between 750n and 1000 square miles in the metro and 100 cars, thats not many.

So - did you all get the email invite from Aristocrat Motors inviting you to their Circus get-together every saturday in July? If you didn't get notified, you should call Amanda or Melinda and get put on the email list. We stopped over there to take a look at the cabrio and didn't see another smart there. Now, petting zoos and inflatable jumping gyms aren't my favorite passtimes, but we could all meet there for a casual meet. Drove smart up around the land rover building and I think the people up there haven't seen one before based on the response - and they were only an couple hundred feet from a dealer.

BTW - our smart is blue/black and my husband drives it to work daily from southern OP up Hwy 69 to Merriam everyday. The only smarts he sees are the dealer demo's from the smart center. We've put on about 1800 local in the last 5 weeks and have seen just a couple (we have some gypsy blood). Perhaps they are all leaving town.

Hiya kids! Here's what I think .

If we want to build a large social network, then get-togethers are the way to go. After a while, genuine friendships will blossom and, next thing you know, we'll be throwing Anita a birthday party , or we'll be swimming in Don's pool or we'll be "cruising" with Andy or you'll all be coming to MY house for grilled burgers! Wait...

We can't expect Aristocrat to do this for us. Any strong, long-lived group has to be self-sustaining.

Now, to play devil's advocate , do we want this? I LOVE socializing with friends! And it seems my chores/job/marriage often take a backseat for that very reason! I'm not complaining (altho my yard/boss/wife might!), but if we all agree that we each need and want more friends, well, THIS is an excellent way to get there! But it's gonna take some work .

Me, personally, I think a person is as rich as he/she has friends. So I'm IN, sign me up, let's go!

Someone may already have done so, but a comprehensive list of Owners needs to be compiled (maybe this forum has a List Maker function?), and names, email addresses, phone numbers, along with car info needs to be gathered. Some type of meeting (place, date and time) needs to be set. Then, those who want to (and are able to) play will show up. The others won't.

Now, who would want to volunteer for this job???

Methinks a regular date for meeting would be a good first step. And, probably like a lot of us, I have so many things going on, there is NO perfect date or day! I'll make it to some events and won't to others.

There are countless ways to organize things. This 'marathon' post was off the top of my head. Whomever volunteers to be the ? (KC Smart Czar) will have their own ideas.

Again I ask who would want to DO such a thing???

Smiles,
Terry

Hey, Terry...how'd you know it was my birthday this month??? LOL!!!

I totally agree. There needs to be a list of owners, then we need to pick a day: 2nd Sunday of the Month, or whatever, and that will be our 'meet' day. Like you said, some days, we can make it; others, maybe not. But there will at least be a standing date each month.

Maybe we should have a 'meet & greet & organize' meeting? You know, a 'get our you-know-what together' kind of meeting! We can come up with something, and then adjust things from there. But at least there'd be a starting point. I'm all for it...count me in.

I'll do my part, and try to start a list of the people we have here so far. I'll pm anyone who's interested, and we can start getting organized.

Anyone with any suggestions, just holler!

Anita

Hi Anita!

WONDERFUL! Start the list! And the second Sunday sounds great: that's this Sunday, right? When and where?

While food may not be the goal, it might help us justify taking a couple hours out of our Sunday to get together. Anywhere works for me.

Who's next?

Terry

This Sunday is fine for me....

Of course you all know that you can count on me. Any time is good for me except in the evening. I think that any place that we can all sit down and kind of spread out would be great. Some place that would be some what central for all of us. A plus would be a place that has a rather visible parking lot on a rather well traveled road, so as to maybe draw in some smart owners that may not be on the forum. Let me know...
