May Gathering

OK everyone,

May is just around the corner and it has been discussed that for our May event that we get together and have a picnic and do some grilling out. The thought was to do it in Emporia, as a somewhat central location to be convenient for both Topeka members and any Wichita members. Now is the time to start brainstorming to see about what date may work for everyone. ALSRAC would prefer that we did this on a Sunday so that is the only restriction that I know of. ALSRAC also mentioned possibly pooling our money and getting a bulk buy of meat from Tyson but I will let him explain that. Bring on the warm weather .....

Thanks,
Andy "Sr Swatch"

Steve, Andy talked to the Wichita guys on Sunday and they liked the idea, hopefully some or all of them could join us.
The restriction for Sunday is because Lula (my wife) can't take more Saturdays off from work.
Also we think that it would be better if instead of everybody bringing different items we buy the things here and have them ready when all of you come, then we split the bill between everybody, that's just an idea, anybody can say something else.
About the meat, well, I work at Tyson so I can get an employee discount and of course good meat.
The picnic could be at Peter Pan Park or Jones Park. I'll look for pictures of the parks so you can vote on your favorite location.

Ok guys I think is time to start a list of who will come, also is time to set up the date and time. Since this weekend will be the 3rd and is too soon, then next sunday will be the 10th (Mother's day) we can vote for the 17th, 24th or 31st.
So far the list is:
  1. Andy (1 maybe 2??)
  2. Smark (2 maybe 3 if they bring Izzy)
  3. ALSRAC (7 counting Mushu and Max )
  4. Terry (1 maybe 2)
  5. Itssowindy (2)
  6. Tigerwong58 (2)
Date: May 17th
Time: Not decided yet.
Place: Peter Pan Park or Jones Park in Emporia, KS.

BTW the meat at Tyson is sold in boxes only so the more people coming the better.
Again, you don't need to have a Smart to join us, everybody is welcome.

I'm in for the 17th.

We will be on vacation on the 24th. The 31st works, too but would not be my first choice. No idea about Karen, but you can count on me.

I would suggest regular picnic fair -- potato salad, chips, baked beans, cookies and of course, steaks. Tyson is famous for their steaks, right? Or is it burgers??? Hmmm... Hotdogs! No, bacon. Venison? Lamb chops? LOBSTER!!! That's it! Let's have lobster for the picnic! Won't cost us more than $50/ person!

Glad THAT'S figured out.

Alphonzo has a good idea: let's make the list here on the forum, he and Lula rob a bank, go buy the stuff, then we'll pay them back when we get there. That would be much better than me trying to drive all the way to Emporia with, say, a box of cookies. Lord knows how messy THAT would be. (Alright, the truth is I'd eat them all before I arrived! )

My food suggestions are just that. The only thing I REQUIRE at picnics is ants. Ants and chocolate chip cookies. Ants, chocolate chip cookies and bottled water. Oh and watermelon! Can we get some BBQ potato chips? Oh! Don't forget the Smores! Maybe we can make Smores in the shape of blue and silver Smarts. That would be...

Messy!

OK, I give up. Apparently I'm quite hungry. Bye!

The 17th is OK with us. I'll bring some DQ sundae's down. How many do you need. Hamburger, and hot dogs are fine with us. You don't have to spend a lot of money. Terry loves cocktail weiners, on the grill. I could bring my world famous Wiener Boy hot dogs. My staff can serve them.

Get your wiener boy t-shirts, on Cafe Press. For women, men, and the common dog, and cat.
The meat???????????

Hold it, hold it!!! The hosts will decide the menu!!! This will be a Mexican Picnic, which means will have "carne asada", beans, rice, "quesadillas", salsa, grilled onions, grilled corn with lemon juice and guacamole!!!!

Just kidding

We can vote on the menu too, we can compare prices and depending on how many Smart people is coming will decide.

And yes, Tyson has good steaks and hamburguers, it uses different brands but they're produced by Tyson.

Yum-yum-yum-yum-yum-yum (insert appropriate Cookie-monster cookie-eating sounds).
Can't do the 17th on this end; out of state family visiting for graduation on the 16th.
IF it ends up being another date, I make a mean pasta salad that feeds the masses and then some.

Is it just me or does Smark get stranger and stranger over time?!

WHAT IN THE WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS ARE YOU DOING?? Is this the 'dry run' of your new profession, serving food to the folks at toll booths? You DO look good with that paper hat! And as awkward as "Weiner Boy" sounds, it will be much worse if you change it to the feminine!

And now you have a staff?? And that's not a Photoshop pic, is it?

I nominate Steve for Bull Moose Looney of our club! Do I hear a 'Second?'
Wow...
