hey you guys.....I don't know if you read it, but I suggested to the masses that KC host a "National" smart meet next year.

KC is centrally located and there are attractions in the area for everyone to enjoy.

What do YOU think?

S, Don't worry, to be a safety rep, as I am, you don't need to work with knives, you just go to safety meetings, make safety audits, check for safety hazards and on the spare time you just draw cars, if I hire Terry I'll make him my assistant with the drawings.....(some smurfs smarts)

What kind of date in time, would be good to have a major activity. Could invite the St. Louis, Iowa, Tulsa, surrounding KC metro, and Towns, Coumbia, Topeka, Wichita, etc.. About a 4 hour drive from all these areas. Or who every wanted to drive farther. We could talk about it, Saturday at the big party. I'm in for it.

To get a "National" event launched, I think someone would have to step up to the plate and become the event coordinator and make some calls/emails to smartUSA and to some of the guys that organized the Wisconsin Dells outing. Just like asking the NFL for a Super Bowl, get a plan together and send a proposal to smartUSA. Also, contact the vendors here on SCOA and SCOA itself (aka Ryan) for assistance and maybe some sponsorship.

Once you get a group together, you could start searching for a site, such as the Kansas Speedway. See how much it would cost to rent out the facility for a day or two.

IMO, we would need a place to gather for a couple days worth of activities and also plan trips to local establishments, such as the Negro Baseball Hall of Fame, Kaufman Stadium, Arthur Bryants, one of the casinos perhaps. You guys know more about the area than I do, but you get the idea. Put one person in charge of each venue and the participants can sign up with each event they would like to go to.

But again, I would think that the FIRST thing is to get a group of you MO-KAN guys together and approach smartUSA about hosting a "National" event.

GOOD LUCK.....if you can pull this off, you can count on US being there!

Methinks Big panda has the knowledge and experience to BE the Event Coordinator! IIRC, the Indy event was HUGE! And BP was the (I'll explain this term to you later, Smark) brains behind it...

Could this be done? Certainly.
Would KC be a good place for it? Logistically, yes.
Do we WANT to host it? We should explore that via this forum, the Insider forum and in person at our monthly meetings.

As for me, I am soooo busy being unemployed I don't know how I'd find the time...

But wouldn't it be fun!
