October Event: SmartCar Costume Contest!

The MO-KAN SmartCar Club is going to do something Special in October!

With the backing of Aristocrat Motors, we will have our First Annual Smart Car Costume Contest!

Say WHAT?!

Yep, it's going to be a costume party for our CARS! You can drive in already costumed or you can use some protected space (maybe in the shop, maybe in the covered service drive) to get your Smart dressed!

And what would a costume party BE if there weren't a costume CONTEST! Joe Lasker, the GM has generously offered to put up $300 for 1st place, $200 for 2nd place and $100 for 3rd place. YOU don't need a costume; your CAR does. But if you WANT to be in costume (Like Alphonso! Alphonso is REALLY a Super-Hero, but he is always disguised as a Normal person!), go right ahead. The details are still be determined, but a word to the wise: start thinking about it NOW!

Can you make your Smart look like a Hummer? A block of cheese? A household appliance? An 18-wheeler? A go-kart? A Kangaroo?! Here is a chance to let your imagination go berserk! Word has it that there will be press coverage of the event, so don't hold back!

The date will be Saturday, October 25, tentative time is 1:00 to 3:00 at the dealership in Merriam Kansas. Joe has ALSO offered to FEED us! We'll have burgers and hotdogs, like we did at the July meeting.

For those of you who have a car on order, this will be a GREAT opportunity to meet with current owners and to connect with our club. We tend to have a lot of fun... We would love for you to join us!

Anyone can attend, but the contest is limited to actual Smart Cars. And if you can't come up with a costume, come anyway and cheer for your favorite! (Mine, of course! )

Aristocrat will be sending out email invitations. Forum readers will see this notice. But if you know someone that should know of this, tell them! I bet we will be asked for a rough headcount as we get closer to October 25. Kindly look at your calendar and respond to this thread with your RSVP.

Get excited!

Oh man!! you just discover myself!! You have put my identity at risk

We already got that day off, so count us in.
BTW, I have thought a name for this event way shorter than:

SmartCar Costume Contest

Here is my idea, instead of Masquerade: SmartCarAde,
but the name is the less important thing, let's make this event a success.

Soooo,

Evites went out today.

Are you conjuring your costumes??? There will be a LOT of people there (based on the number of invitees)! And even if you don't make a costume, I hope evereyone will still come. More people = more fun.

I would like to create some sort of sign-up sheet to collect ONCE AND FOR ALL the names and contact info of those folks wanting to be in the MO-KAN SmartCar Club. Maybe even give them a small handout of some sort, encouraging them to join up. Hey, it's free!

If anyone has any ideas for how best to do this, sing out.

Thanks!
Terry

I've discovered that my disguise will be so good that nobody will even know I'm there - in fact I will be invisible to all who attend. (I'm really bummed to find out there is an MU game that day that requires my attendance although I wish I could be in both places at once

take lots of pictures and tell me all about it though.....

October Event: SmartCar Costume Contest!

In case you have been off-planet, asleep or otherwise distracted by silly things like the ECONOMY, here is a friendly reminder!

You have two (2) weeks till the Kansas City SmartCar Costume Party!

Plenty of time to make your car into an erupting volcano, a dog house or, if you work with someone else, a pair of bookends!

And even if you can't come up with anything, or if your car hasn't arrived yet, please come for the camaraderie (and the food!).

The fun will be at Aristocrat Motors, Saturday, October 25, from 1-3. It's free and open to owners, future owners and fans. However, only SmartCars will be allowed in the competition.

Hope you (YOU!) can attend! Kindly RSVP via the E-Vite sent out by Aristocrat on September 29.

Just give me ten dollars and I will... Wait, that's not right!

Just follow this link. I THINK it will let you register

Invitations, eCards, Party Ideas, Party Themes from Evite

Eeeek, when I tried it, it just took me to MY E-vite. But maybe by looking around there you can figure out how to either send one to yourself or to register anyway. If all else fails, you might want to call Amanda to see why you didn't get one. It would be GREAT if you and your family could come!
