September Activity

Okay everyone,

I think that we need to decide what we want to do for September as a group outing. there was talk of maybe doing some kind of road trip. Last year we all went to Ottawa KS for a large car show and cruise. We could do that again this year as I believe that most if not all of you enjoyed it. That show will take place on the 18th, 19th, and 20th of September and the link to there site is as follows Over the Road Gang. We unfortunately do not get to participate in the show with our cars, but we can still visit the beautiful little town and admire. I will be there as I am every year. This is an option and I open this up to anyone else if they have any other suggestions.

Future events as Steve stated earlier today that we would like to embark upon are a trip to Eureka Springs AR and Omaha NE. We can get with the groups from those areas or surrounding areas and plan a tour of there City's. Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks,
Andy "Sr Swatch"

Eureka Springs, AR would love to have you. Last weekend, the VW Association of America was here with, literally, thousands of vintage Beetles, Buses and "Things." Throughout the summer, there are also Mustang, Miata, Thunderbird, antique and art-car rallies held here. And they all get their own parade through the twisty, narrow streets (perfect for Smart Cars) of this Victorian village, during which the sidewalks are lined with tourists and locals. There are tons of inexpensive hotel rooms or charming B&Bs to choose from, lots of art galleries, restaurants, bars, cafes and shops. And not one single traffic light in the entire mountain-top city.

Contact Jim Williams, executive director of the Eureka Springs City Advertising and Promotion Commission. And see eurekasprings.org for more info.

Eureka Springs bears a close resemblance to a small European village and is the perfect place to show off the Smart Car's best traits.

And, no, I'm not a spokesman for the Chamber of Commerce. Just a resident who loves living here and aspires someday to own my own Smart Car.

Eurekaman, my wife and myself, were just down there first of June. Do you own a Smart car? Would like to get the Wichita, St. Louis, and Tulsa people to join us. Its a perfect place for a Smart event.

I'm obligated all day on the 19th, at least till 7, but I would love to drive down to see the cruise again. I looked at their website and it said the cruise would begin in the early evening. Not sure when that is, but I will contact them to find out. I will post what they say.

In lieu of that, Sunday might be a good day to visit and make a day of it.

Folks, this is a nice easy drive and a wonderful event if you like cool cars!

Terry

Since we're well into September, and need to pin down details about a 2010 event, let's do a meeting at Denny's or Rosedale in September with goals and an agenda, and plan a well done road trip for October. We can decide where in the Sept meeting. What about Sunday the 27th?

Cheers

September Meeting

I think we should meet sooner rather than later. I am new to the whole scene and it would appear that we have a sense of urgency with respect to the national event and getting a gauge on how big this activity is going to be and how many potential participants might be expected. I am available to meet most anytime. Either venue will work for me.
