All,
(This is open to any car owner. You do not need to be a member of the Mercedes Benz club to participate since this a public event

)
The Mercedes club is going to Heartland Park this Thursday eve to do 1/4 mile accelleration runs. I have participated at several of these and it is a great way to meet other car nuts from all streets of life. You show up and have your car inspected for safety (new cars are automatically approved and this rule only applies to the true race car so it take them 30 seconds on a factory car). You may be pitted against a motorcycle, Yugo, or a 7 second railed dragster. It is quite fun and funny. It costs $15 to run all you want. We usually meet for a light dinner afterwards at Pat's Pig just north of the track about a mile.
So if you want to know what your car can do or just want to watch some local talent run thier car down the track you are invited.

For a good time bring your Benz Or Smart for Two to Topeka's Heartland Park on
September 25th, for an evening of drag racing with your Mercedes Benz Brand of vehicles Buddies during HPT's Thursday Night Street Legal event.
For just $15 (same price for spectators) you can have the opportunity to drive your car on the professional NHRA track.
Your car must be in safe operating condition (a pre-run inspection is made by track officials), and if your car is capable of sub-14 second quarter mile times you are required to wear a helmet. That's about it, but you can check the website at
Heartland Park Topeka : Where the Best Come to Play! for further details.
Club members will meet at the entrance on the east side of the track at 5 p.m. Inspections start at 5:30, and racing begins at 6:00 p.m. You don't need to be experienced nor does your car need to be fast. It's just fun to get out on the track and let it all hang out!
If the weather doesn't cooperate with us, there's a rain date scheduled for October 16th.
This will get you some strip time in preparation for next year's Mid-America Caravan hosted by our Kansas City Section of Mercedes-Benz Club of America!
Smart Cars will have thier class as well just like the Unimog, S-Class, E-Class, etc.
